Invisalign In Sherwood Park

Sometimes our patients think that Invisalign braces are too good to be true. They’ve seen the commercials, but they have trouble believing that they could really have straighter, prettier teeth without having to resort to conventional braces.
But Invisalign works! Numerous happy patients have experienced the Invisalign difference, and are now enjoying happier, healthier smiles. Here are some of the most common questions that we receive.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign patients are fitted with a series of custom-made aligners made out of smooth, comfortable, invisible plastic that is BPA free. We actually create a 3D digital image of your teeth to make absolutely sure that these aligners will work for your mouth. The aligners gradually shift the teeth into optimal position. Every two weeks, the patient moves on to the next aligner until the treatment process is complete.
These aligners just fit right over the teeth. There are no brackets and no wires. They’re even removable. You should wear them for 20 to 22 hours per day, so you’d mostly remove them to engage in your normal oral hygiene routine and while eating. You can sleep and speak normally while wearing your aligners. Since the aligners are very, very hard to see most people will never know that you’re wearing
Many patients start seeing results in just six weeks, even though the treatment takes longer to complete.

Does Invisalign hurt?

Some patients do experience some initial discomfort when they are first fitted with their Invisalign aligners. This discomfort usually passes in two or three days. Every person is different, but a largely pain-free experience is certainly the norm.

Are there any restrictions on what I can eat, drink, or do while wearing Invisalign?

You shouldn’t smoke while wearing your aligners, as they are prone to picking up nicotine stains. We ask that you refrain from chewing gum, as gum can stick to the aligners. We also ask that you do not drink alcohol or engage in sugary drinks in moderation or not at all, and you’ll want to make sure you clean your teeth thoroughly after consuming either. You don’t want sugar to wind up trapped between the aligner and your teeth.
From there, the sky is the limit! Invisalign braces do not hinder your ability to eat any other normal food.

Will I need a retainer?

Once you have completed your Invisalign treatment we will recommend a retainer. The retainer keeps your teeth from drifting back into their previous position, and it is an important part of the treatment process.
